Nomadic Furniture 3.0 Exhibit

In 1973, my father James Hennessey, together with Victor Papanek (Design for the Real World) co-authored a book entitled Nomadic Furniture.

The book contains commentary on design for nomadism as well as offering suggestions on "how to build and where to buy lightweight furniture that folds, collapses, stacks, knocks-down, inflates or can be thrown away and re-cycled‬."

Following the success of Nomadic Furniture, Hennessey and Papanek co-authored a sequel entitled, Nomadic Furniture 2 in 1974.

Now, the Museum of Applied Arts (MAK) in Vienna, Austria is presenting an exhibit entitled, "Nomadic Furniture 3.0" which will be on display between June 12, 2013 and October 6, 2013. The exhibit contains resources and artifacts from the original two books as well as offering insights and design thinking built upon those works for the 21st century.
